Today I took some time to create my own package for R.
I'm sure this sentence confused more than one reader, so here's a bit of context:
R is a programming language and software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The R language is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software and data analysis.

I use R for work, and what I love about it is that the basic functionalities of R can be extended by using a variety of user-made packages. They are easy to install and let developers save time by not re-inventing the wheel every time: if I'm trying to do something in R, odds are that someone else has tried to do the same thing before, and there is probably an existing package that will let me do just that.
As a data scientist, I spend a lot of time connecting to and querying databases, so today I took some time to write a package for R that lets me (or anyone who choses to use it) connect to and query databases easily. You can read more about it here: http://github.com/delormev/r-pg-manager.
I also want to point out that I have used this tutorial to create the package, which made the process much more painless than expected!
